What are the effects of low job satisfaction?





The outcome of high job satisfaction consists of several characteristics that directly affected the stability of the organization. Competence, cost-effectiveness, and increase in productivity in the firm, the decrease in employee absenteeism and turnover, wiling to maintain harmonious relationship and do not hesitate to boost the brand name and image of the organization are a few of them.

According to a survey done by Deloitte (2019), the ratio of employees who are satisfied with their job was 49%. As the workforce is the biggest asset of any organization, the impact of low job satisfaction exceeds the rise of employee turnover rates. To be more experts in their positions and to engage with an open-minded view in their responsibilities while influencing to be worked with a positive attitude even in the worst situation, maintain the satisfaction level of employees is an important factor.

Dissatisfaction towards the career of an individual in an organization process lack of motivation and when one’s bottom line inspiration at the workplace is an unwelcomed facet. The employee in an organization with a pessimistic outlook, always experiencing an idea that their employments are illogical, unrelieved, and ridiculous. That negative idea forwards the employees for dissatisfaction regarding the job. It will surely lead the way to reduce the productiveness in the organization.

When the employees are dissatisfied with their employment, not only the revenues or productivity will be affected, but also other diverse areas will be affected. Even for other employees and for their behavioral pattern as well as their attitudes towards the management and organization, the reputation of the organization among the competitors, reaction of customers, etc. Therefore, it is realized that the outcome of low job satisfaction is one of the extensive factors, and also the impact has similar effects on both sole proprietorships as well as multinational companies.



      There are few major facts were identified for low job satisfaction or dissatisfaction regarding           the job.

*      💧  Tension on the Employment

     The employees who are satisfied with their employment are doubtful to communicate about stressful situations and willing to work happily as much as possible, while the dissatisfied employees are ready to make complaints about the stress even without being starting work. They don’t have any idea about the job to be done. Without being analyzing the assigned duty, they struggle to indicate the tension that they are suffering. Even miniature tasks will be burdensome and therefore, a feeling of stressful situations will arise automatically.

*    💧  Increase in Employee Turnover

     Dissatisfaction about the employment force the employees to leave and to find a more beneficial, enjoyable, and appreciable job within the industry. Such low job satisfaction matter directly impacts the high employee turnover in an organization. Top management and human resources professionals in numerous sectors in the industry are experiencing hardship to retain trained, knowledgeable and qualified employees, because of high turnover. Especially, this problem impacts the rough and tough industries as well as on low beneficial organizations.

*     💧  Decrease in Productivity

     Dissatisfaction or low job satisfaction and lack of motivation are two aspects moving n parallel, which affects the services, manufacturing, revenues, and profits in an organization. When employees are dejected and demotivated, they indicate their regret by neglecting duties, not focusing well, and not paying much attention to the assigned duties. When there are several departments, divisions, groups, teams operate within one organization, if one sector proceeds to decline in revenues and profits, it automatically affects other sectors also. The others also feel dissatisfied and demotivated and consequently, a low production followed by low profits can be observed. This will affect the whole organizational stability.

*     💧  Profit 

     When the organizational objective is mainly focused on making profits, while delivering good customer service, the main concern of the management should be paid to employees as they are the service providers. To gain expected profits, the quality and the quantity of the product, a good customer base, and a satisfied workforce are essential factors. Customer satisfaction based on many factors such as supply, demand, worth of the outcome, the standard of the service, after-sales service, etc., and it is directly impacting the profitability of the organization. Therefore, product advantage is established on a customer’s impression and It is realized that the approach of customers for the product is a measurement of satisfaction and dissatisfaction level of employees.

      Also, if the employees are wrapped with low job satisfaction, they won’t be able to provide better customer service and it will be a reason to low productivity and fewer profits. With the dissatisfied workforce, any organization would not be able to fulfill the expected goals.

*      💧  Customer retention

     Customer retention is having a direct involvement with customer satisfaction. Even in the worst circumstances, even when the customers are undergoing problems and questioned situations with the organizations or about the production, if they are experiencing an outstanding service and assistance from the satisfied employees, then satisfied customers can be created.

     If the customers are satisfied with the helping hand of the human resources of the organization, they do not have any doubt to maintain the relationship further. The organizations are apparent to be kept the satisfied customers for a longer period of time, with the help of satisfied workers who reveal the power to grant a better service than the expectations of customers.

     To continue with a substantial income in an organization, retention of satisfied customers is the very censorious thing, If the employees are dissatisfied, retaining the customer base is only a dream. It is impossible to keep the customers at a satisfying level without the involvement of happy and proud employees.

     Therefore, it is obvious that, if the employees are working with low satisfaction or dissatisfaction towards their employment, it is badly impacted not only on the employees but also for the reputation of the organization. When the job dissatisfaction continues, within the work force, the organization should be expected for the customer service, quality of production and the forecasted profitability. Therefore, it is realized that the absence of trust, faith, honesty and dedication by employees lead them to neglect themselves from assign duties. Then it is impossible to retain the customers as the employees are the service providers.


     Generally, the dissatisfaction of employees is clearly affecting for the bad conduct, low effectiveness, and low profitability for the organization.

    1. When the company profits increase, the benefits of the employees will automatically increase and with all the comforts, the employees are satisfied about their profession. But, when the revenues of the company become declined, no matter how qualified and experienced, how sacrificed and how valued you to the company, the employer is not in position to treat as their wishes. Then the employees are demotivated and dissatisfied about the career accordingly.

    1. When the employees are satisfied enough with their employment, they complete the duties on time, accurately and with more dedication. Then the performance of the employees increase, and then it is praised by the employer and again the employee become a satisfied person towards his/her career.

    1. Yes. As we knew, Most of the companies teach one of the popular phrase to junior staff that, "The customer is the king". It is the actual situation in most industries, because such companies couldn't be able to survive without customers. To keep the customer in a satisfied level, the employee must be happy as they are the service providers. Therefore, it is realized that the employee job satisfaction is one of the main factors to retain and manage the customers effectively.
